Ranching: a lifestyle beyond occupation

Here at The Dancing Yak Ranch, we believe that practicing ranching as a lifestyle helps us reconnect with the nature and witness first-hand the true relationship between land and our food. By participating in the full cycle of life from being born to being consumed, one will start to truly appreciate and cherish the food on the table.

An unique take on sustainability

We explored different dairy and meat animals on the ranch and settled on dairy sheep and yaks, which require less grass and water consumption to grow. We are also experimenting with free-grazing Berkshire pigs and chickens at our alpine (over 9500 ft.) ranch location to see how far we can push our self-sustainability limit. All without the need for big machinery!

Who we are

Jason and Sophie read the books of “The little house on the prairie” series since they were kids growing up in Taiwan. After over 10 years of hardworking in United States they obtained US citizenships and began realizing the dreams of what they have read in those books.

They met Leon Lux, a life-changing mentor to them in central Colorado and started building up the ranch with his teachings: from high tensile fencing to the practices of yak training, it is the thrilling sensation of reviving old-fashion agriculture in this rapid changing modern world that kept them going and let them love what they do every single day on the ranch.
