Each year we have a small amount of yaks that are regarded as tamed for sale. These yaks are most suitable for those who wants a small starting herd of yaks without huge piece of land. We will also share sale information on livestock grade yaks ( for meat ) on this website.

How We Train Our Yaks
Leon Lux, a long-time local yak rancher in Central Colorado, developed an unique and effective way to tame yaks while creating positive relationship with the animal in his 12+ years yak ranching experiences.
Leon’s practice of training tamed yaks involves crowding the yak herd in tight space and tying horns to prepare yaks to be brushed or massaged. He discovered that tightly crowding the yak herd will calm the herd and make them less aggressive, and the repeated practices of horn tying and massaging will link the two activities together, making yaks learn to like to be tied and worked on while creating trust on humans.
Once the relationship with yaks is established. They become friendly and allow being approached when properly engaged.
