Meet The Yak Herd
of The Dancing Yak Ranch
We currently have 9 yaks, that includes one bull, one steer, and seven cows in the foundation herd of The Dancing Yak Ranch. They are always free roaming on our property, which means they can be right outside the house (even go on the deck) when we open the door.
Our philosophy of training yaks is impacted by this lifestyle. We always try to make deeper bonding and install trusts with our yaks instead of trying to “rule them” by teaching the yaks to “fear us”.
We truly enjoy this “homestead style approach to yak ranching” which is suitable for most small family farms that don’t have much land and have to live closely with them on the daily basis, and we believe it works well for larger, more commercial focused ranches as well by focusing on establishing bonds and trusts with the “higher pecking order” members in the herd.
